“The bird life in Lafreniere Park is unsuspectingly spectacular. Usually when reading a sign that states “Bird Sanctuary” you expect to see a few birds. However, the pure multitude of birds in this park is mind-boggling; the sheer number of species staggering. And, they live, and thrive, in perfect harmony with their human neighbors. My desire is that my photographs give you a sense of what it is really like to spend time amongst the birds of Lafreniere Park.”

Time to think, time to create.
Have you ever thought about what it would have been like to live during the era of prehistoric cave dwellers? I have. Expressing yourself through cave paintings to tell your story and preserve your history for posterity. Drawing on a cave wall is widely considered a form of communication and photography is, inherently, another such form of communicating.
Fast forward to today. Images have come down from cave walls onto museum walls, into art galleries, computer screens, and right to the palm of our hands. Millions of photos are uploaded and viewed on Facebook and Instagram every day. Digital photography has changed our lives and how we communicate. And photography can help us bridge the gap between the research and the public, with the photographer acting as translator and making the research more broadly accessible to all. Scientists and historians often speak in terms understandable primarily by other scientists and historians.
My goal is to use photography to bring history to life. Now, I cannot take pictures of what life was like while history was unfolding, but by visiting and photographing locations where history was made, I will give you a sense of understanding and hopefully bring the stories to life! Viewing the landscape, historical markers and wildlife will help me share with you the fascination I feel when delving into the past.
The Summer of 2020: Walks in Lafreniere Park was my first historical coffee table book followed by Lovable Little Garden Lizards in 2021.
If you enjoyed in these books, you obviously care about climate change and the environment and you may enjoy this article about what is a wannabe naturalist.
